Medication Clinic and
Pharmacological Management
A psychiatric evaluation is
available to all Red Rock clients over the age of six who are
experiencing psychiatric symptoms. During this evaluation a
comprehensive Treatment Plan is developed for the individual. If
needed, medications are prescribed to reduce symptoms, maximize
functioning, minimize side effects and promote stability for community
living. The latest Atypical Medications as well as traditional
psychotropic medication are prescribed when appropriate.
Pharmacological management occurs
in visits following the initial evaluation. These visits include the
assessment of benefits or side effects of the medication, compliance and
satisfaction with medications, and if needed, adjustment of medications
or dosages. The physician continues to provide education and support to
the client and/or family. Clients, and when appropriate, their
families, are actively involved in decision-making related to
medications.
All clients are assigned a primary
clinician who is responsible to treatment planning. The physician often
works with the client and assigned clinician to develop goals and
objectives for treatment. Medication Clinic services are integrated
into the client’s treatment plan.
